When do I need to get an EMI Valuation?

Every time you grant EMI options, you’ll need an up-to-date EMI Valuation. You must grant EMI share options within 90 days of having your EMI Valuation approved by HMRC.

Why do I need an EMI Valuation?

To grant EMI share options, you need a valid, approved EMI Valuation. In your valuation report, you’re aiming for a fair, up-to-date price for shares in your company today. With the EMI Valuation share price approved as the strike price for your option holders, and the share price going up in the future (hopefully!), after exercise your employees will be able to make more profit when they sell their shares because they’re worth more than the strike price.
