Anthony: Alright, in today’s founder interview where we talk to amazing founders I’m talking to Dean from Onyxia.
So we’ve all want to go off and do a fun experience but it’s hard work. Let’s see how Onyxia’s gonna change that. So Dean, introduce yourself.
Dean: Hi, I’m Dean. I’m a co-founder of Onyxia. Onyxia is an itinerary development platform. It helps you achieve that personalised experience for that moment in time that we potentially all look for.
A study says that actually the anticipation of a holiday is where the most experience or the love is. Actually when you go, you’re like oh it was okay or yeah this was good. Whereas we like to try and hyperpersonalise that moment in time. And that’s where we’re building that solution.
Anthony: I think the problem with organising most holidays is it’s more effort than it’s worth. I want to go on a weekend break but it takes me three days to organise my weekend break. It’s insane.
But what Onyxia is all about from what I see on the website is organising tickets to events that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to get. So tell me a bit more about that.
Dean: That’s where it started. How do we source these tickets that you can’t buy
so oh, the sell out event. Well actually there is a misperception around that there.So we started sourcing tickets and then we started having enquiries oh
can you do this, do this and this. But actually that personalised passion behind
actually creating those moments in time that go the extra mile.Like, how do I get the hotel, the transport? How do I go actually to that restaurant? Like, I love different types of food and to actually decide and book and find all of that – really, in a short space of time – is actually really time consuming.
Anthony: So for me as the customer looking for an experience, I go to the site and I just go, oh I would love to go to Taylor Swift. And then behind the scenes are there an army of zombies or is it AI bots? How does it work behind the scenes?
Dean: So this is the key blend. What we don’t want to do is just go, hey here’s our AI assistant. The AI assists us in doing a better job for you. There’ll always be a personalised touch. There’ll always be a person that we will speak to and then the AI assists them to achieve a better personalised experience between you and them.
